Line It Up

Privacy Policy

Line It Up runs the 40 yard dash tournament and the Line It Up app (app.lineitup40.com and the mobile apps). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it plain because that is how we would want to read it.

What we collect

Account. Your email address and a password, used to sign you in. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us.
Profile. What you add yourself: your first and last name, your city, your date of birth (we store the date and work out your age from it, so your age stays right over time), your division, and an optional profile photo.
Event entries. When you enter an event: your name, email address, mobile number, the city you live in, the city you want to race in, your age, your division, the video of your run if you send one, and any time attached to the entry.
Results. Your times, your place in a bracket, and whether officials approved a time as official.
Usage. Basic, aggregate taps and views inside the app (for example how many people opened registration). These are counts, not a browsing history tied to you.

What is public

Line It Up is a public competition, so some of what you give us is public on purpose. Anyone, signed in or not, can see:

Your name, city, division and your official times on the public board, the bracket, the record book, the live watch page and shareable result pages.
Your age group, such as 30s or 50s, which is what the age standings are built from. Your exact age is not published.
Whether you won, and any champion or fastest-of-the-day credit.

Never public: your email address, your mobile number, your exact age, your date of birth, your password, and the video you send. Entry videos are never posted anywhere and are never linked from any public page. They are stored privately, and the app only ever shows the link to event officials, who use them to time and confirm your run.

If you would rather your results were not public, do not enter an event. Browsing the app needs no account and puts nothing of yours online. Posting to the top speed board or listing a local session does put what you type online, with or without an account.

How we use it

To run the tournament: officials review entries, set the field, time runs, and post brackets and results.
To run your account: sign in, show your entries and results, and send you entry decisions.
To improve the app using aggregate usage counts.

What becomes public: if you enter an event, your name, city, division, age group and your 40 time can appear on public boards, brackets, and results pages, in the venue, and on stream. That is the point of a tournament. Your email, phone number, exact age, and videos are never shown publicly.

Community boards and sessions

Two parts of the app take a post without an account, and both are public the moment you send them.

The top speed board. If you post a flying sprint, the name and city you type are shown publicly with your speed. Type whatever name you are happy for strangers to read, and leave the city blank if you would rather not say. The number is self reported and never official.
Local sessions. If you list a weekly meetup, the session name, venue, city and host name you type are public so people can find it. So is any name someone types to say they are coming.

Officials can remove anything from either one. Email info@lineitup40.com to have a post taken down.

Where it lives

Your data is stored with Google Firebase (authentication, database, and file storage). Entry videos go to private storage. They are not published, not indexed, and not linked from any public page, and the app only ever reveals a video to event officials. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Email

We send account email (password resets and a confirmation when you create an account) and entry decisions (accepted, waitlist, declined). We do not send marketing email.

Your choices

Edit. You can change your profile details in the app at any time.
Delete. Open Profile in the app and tap Delete my account. That removes your sign in, your profile, your photo, and any entry still under review, along with its video. An entry already accepted into a field keeps only your name, division and time, because the event record depends on them, and its contact details and video are erased. Public results from completed events remain part of the event record. You can also email us and we will do it for you.
Camera and photos. The app only uses your camera or photo library when you choose to film or attach a 40. You can decline these permissions and still use the rest of the app.

Age

Line It Up is 18 and over. We do not knowingly create accounts for anyone younger, and an account we learn belongs to a minor is deleted along with its data.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update this page and the date above.
